Ray's Bio
Before you go any further into my page, let me tell you a little bit about myself.  I was born in Donalsonville, GA, which is a small town about 60 miles southwest of Albany (in case you never heard of it) on February 1st, 1966 which means I'm 42 years old .  I've been in the radio business for 25 years.  I'm divorced and I have two boys, Josh, who's 19 and Stacy, who's 5.  You may hear me refer to Stacy as the "Monkey".  That's because I've called him that since the day he was born.  I'm active in my church, Sylvester Lighthouse Church of God where I am a sound technician and sing regularly.

My favorite foods are basically anything that won't eat me first (except chittlins...yuk!).  My favorite music is Classic Rock (mainly from the '70s & 80's), Country, Southern Gospel and Contemporary Christian.  My favorite book is the Bible, and I also enjoyed the Left Behind series by Tim LaHaye & Jerry Jenkins, and books by Max Lucado and Ken Hemphill as well as the Uncle John's Bathroom Reader series.

In my spare time I enjoy going to church, singing, reading, quiet time, watching television, movies and sports, as well as spending time with my kids and my family.

It's Friday...can I get a witness!!!
Friday 07-25-2008 10:12am ET
Although I've only been back since Wednesday, I sure am glad that it's Friday!  I went to the Dr. yesterday and they said that I shouldn't be hurting like I was and they even did an ultrasound of the cath site and said it looked normal.  I'm still a little sore this morning, but I think I've pinpointed the problem.  I noticed that I was running a pretty good fever yesterday and started getting other body aches too, so I'm thinking that I might've picked up a bug while I was in the hospital...I don't know.  I'm really looking forward to some R&R this weekend.  Maybe a little couch time with the DVD player.  I'm not supposed to have the Monkey this weekend.  He's supposed to go to Jacksonville with his mom for his first ever beach trip.  He's so excited and I hope they get to go...I know he'll be disappointed if they don't.

5-Year-Old Leaves Day Care, Goes To Hooters
A 5-year-old boy slipped out of his child care center unnoticed Tuesday afternoon. The boy crossed two busy streets and wandered into a Hooters restaurant. Employees at Hooters in Denton, Texas, found the child after he crossed an Interstate service road, bought a soft drink at a service station and walked to the restaurant. An employee found him in the parking lot and called police. Deborah Pugh, who owns the child care business, said the boy asked to go to the bathroom and then slipped out a fire exit door, which must, by law, remain unlocked.

Thursday's gonna be a tough one...
Thursday 07-24-2008 9:31am ET
I don't know what has happened, but I woke up this morning and I am extremely sore in the area where they did the heart catheterization on me the other day.  I hope the soreness wears off soon because sometimes when I step or sit the wrong way, it almost takes my breath!  Whew!!!  I had the Monkey yesterday for a while and we didn't do a whole lot because of my limited ability at the moment.  I'll have him again today and I'm sure my activities will be even more limited considering how sore I am!  Please continue to keep me in your thoughts and prayers as I recover, and thank you!

Vultures Eyeballing Hospital Patients

The last thing a hospital patient wants to see while facing surgery are vultures perched outside his or her window. Patients at the Orthopedic Hospital in Glendale, Wisconsin, about to go under the knife can watch up to six turkey vultures sitting on ledges of the three-story building. The birds have long been associated with death, but doctors say their patients aren’t taking it too seriously because not too many people die at the hospital, which deals with sports injuries more than life threatening illnesses. Still, the birds cause a lot of conversation, hospital officials said.

Chrysler Cutting 1,000 Jobs
Chrysler said yesterday it plans to cut 1,000 white-collar jobs by the end of September to survive. Chrysler, which lost $1.6 billion last year, said it ended the year with $9 billion in cash.

Postal Service Hard Hit By High Gas Prices
The U.S. Postal Service said yesterday it is looking for a way to get its 220,000 vehicles to be less dependent on gas. The Postal Service operates the world’s largest civilian fleet, and it has been hit hard by rising gas prices. A 1-cent increase in the cost of a gallon of fuel adds $8 million to its annual expense. Fuel costs are expected to increase by $600 million this year. They were $1.7 billion last year. Letter carriers are testing a number of technologies in 43,000 vehicles, including ethanol, electricity, natural gas and hydrogen fuel cells.
